A Prayer Request

Friends,

If you believe in the power of prayer, we would covet your prayers for our family right now.  Mike has been having some vision problems.  Blurry spots in his vision that make it difficult to read, drive, type...scary, especially for someone who is used to 20/20 vision.  He visited the opthamologist yesterday, who sent him to a retinal specialist this morning.  The news was not encouraging.  Mike has extreme changes in his macula lutea, which is often a sign of macular degeneration.  While there is a history of macular degeneration in his family, at 28, he is extremely young to be experiencing these symptoms.

We see the retinal specialist again Thursday for more extensive tests and to determine our next course of action.  There is a possibility that glasses may aid his sight, which would be a huge blessing.

Please pray for healing.  For peace.  For perspective.  Strength.  Wisdom.  Compassion.  Faith.  Endurance.  Hope.  A MIRACLE.

While it has been a trying day for us, we know God is faithful.  We are blessed beyond measure!  We are all healthy, we have a roof over our heads, food on the table, wonderful families and friends, each other, and most of all, a Father who loves us.  He will give us strength to handle what is yet to come.

The song that has been playing over and over in my head since we left the doctor's office this morning is Bethany Dillon & Nichole Nordeman's Sing Over Me.  Here are some of the lyrics:

I live in the wonder of Your love
You rise like the sun in my heart
Even when night draws near to me
There You are

I will wade in the water of mercy
I will walk in the light of Your will
Whatever should come against me
Teach me to be still

As You sing over me
Draw me close to rest in Your peace
Oh, sing over me
Oh, sing

Sing of Your unending faithfulness
That knows no doubt or fear
In the face of all that I don't know yet
Remind me of who You are

As You sing over me
Draw me close to rest in Your peace
Oh, sing over me
Oh, sing

We are so thankful for each and every one of you.  We can feel the love and prayers coming our way.  God is good!

28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

  1. Beautiful words for beautiful faith. Praying for your family and hoping that the news is more encouraging as you go. Praying for peace as you go along that path.

  2. Will be praying! We know how scary eye stuff is. Sounds like you got to a specialist right away, but if you feel like you need to, see a second one. You don't mess around with a young guy's eyes!

    Peace, friends.
