37 Weeks and Counting!

Hello dear friends!

Sorry it has been so long since we last updated - life has been hectic! We had a beautiful fall here in Michigan, with a few days in November reaching nearly 70 degrees! But alas, December has arrived and along with it - SNOW! We can't complain, though...so far, it hasn't accumulated to much and is truly quite beautiful! Makes me excited for Christmas!

Mike is busy finishing up another semester of seminary. He has been putting his call out to numerous churches throughout the Midwest. SO EXCITING to explore the possibilities of where the Lord may lead us in the next year!

I have been keeping myself occupied with lots of subbing and preparing the house for our new addition! Baby Holleman is due to arrive in just 19 days! Momma and Daddy are waiting anxiously to meet him! And so are his grandparents!!!!!

Well, sorry this entry is so brief, but the laundry is calling my name!

Love and blessings!

It's a Boy!

That's right, Baby Holleman is a little boy! We are so excited! Mike's parents blessed us with a very generous gift of furniture for the nursery, and we just purchased the bedding set! I am ready to start "nesting" and get organized for this little one.

We returned to Michigan on August 9 after Mike preached his final sermon at Sully First Reformed. Beside the overwhelming love and support they showed, the congregation blessed us with an incredibly generous love offering - we are constantly reminded of God's providence! We miss our friends and family in Iowa, but are happy to have returned home. Unpacking is still a work-in-progress...

This past weekend we took a trip to Mackinac City and the Upper Peninsula with Mike's family. We had a PERFECT weekend! The weather was a balmy 80+ degrees every day, with minimal amounts of rain. We traveled to Mackinac Island and made the 7-mile bike trip around the island - that's right, this preggo lady rode 7 miles on a bike! The ride was gorgeous. And the FUDGE! We stopped at every fudge shop to get a sample (or two or three) until we found the perfect one!

Well, I have food to prepare for the Red Bricks Picnic tonight, so I should probably sign off.

Love and blessings to you all!

Summertime, and the Livin' Is Easy...

I can't believe our summer is half over already! SO much has happened since school ended in June. Mike and I are currently living in Sully, Iowa. He has an internship at First Reformed Church in Sully, which is the church my mom grew up in. It has been so much fun to be back in the area this summer and to visit friends and family. The church family has welcomed us with open arms and open hearts. Mike has really grown as a preacher this summer...it is miraculous to see God work through him!

Our summer started out a little rough, as the house we are staying at was infested with earwigs (For those of you who have never seen an earwig, I have included a picture!). We spent many hours killing hundreds of the little critters...in the bath tub, the bed, the kitchen sink and cupboards, and yes, even in the refrigerator (shudders)! If you know me well, you know that I am terrified of anything that creeps and crawls...I spent many sleepless nights worrying that bugs were crawling all over me! It took Mike a few attempts at soaking the house in insecticide to finally rid us of the little buggers, and we are now (nearly) bug-free!

I have been pretty busy, working both at Ulrich's Meat Market and also baby-sitting for some very dear friends. And when I'm not working, I am avidly hunting for a job for the fall (so far no leads, but I will keep you posted!). As of now, I plan on substitute teaching come September.

These past few months have been very exciting! For those of you who don't already know, Mike and I are soon-to-be parents! I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and our little one is due December 30th. I was violently ill from weeks 6-14, but am FINALLY able to eat foods other than saltines and toast! We are THRILLED to have this opportunity to raise up a child in the love of our Lord and Savior! We shared the news with our families on Father's Day. This will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family! Our parents couldn't be happier!

Well, I guess it's time to wrap this up! I'm suddenly having a craving for french fries and ice cream...

Love and blessings to you all!
