95
This past weekend, the boys and I traveled to Iowa to celebrate my Great-Grandma Rozendaal's 95th birthday.
The birthday girl
She currently has 6 great-great grandchildren. My boys weren't being super cooperative...and yes, Luke is picking his nose, LOL. He was doing that in every single photo!
5 generations
The great-grandkids who were at the party.

This little man ate THREE pieces of pizza! WHOA! We are in so. much. trouble when these boys hit their teenage years!
Snuggling with Auntie Keisha. Three pieces of pizza makes a boy sssleeeeepy.
What a fun celebration! We are truly blessed by this special lady who has touched so many lives. Thank you, Lord, for the wonderful example of love and faith she is to all of us!

2013
It's that time of year again, folks...time to write your New Year's resolutions!
Here are my resolutions from last year. I can honestly say, most of these were accomplished! A big goal of mine was to join a moms' Bible study group. God came through in a big way on that one, because, through a friend, I found TWO groups to join! I have made lots of new mom friends and feel so blessed by them.
Anyway, aspirations for 2013 (revised from last year's list, plus a few additions):
*Be the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend I can be.
This past year, God has allowed many of my family relationships and friendships to really blossom. I am so thankful for this, and continue to pray that I can serve my family and friends to the very best of my abilities.
*Have devotions every day.
For the most part, I have stuck to this. I STILL have lots of room to grow and learn. I am really searching for a daily devotional that delves deep into the Scriptures...if you have any suggestions, please share!
*Exercise 5-6 days a week.
Aside from vacations, I have also done pretty well with this, but would like to keep it up in 2013.
*Just enjoy my husband and children, even if that means letting some things go around the house sometimes.
Keeping a clean house with two little guys underfoot isdifficult challenging impossible 99% of the time. God has definitely done some work on me with this one over the past year. I am much more comfortable spending more time with my kiddos and less time cleaning than I used to be. Mike is a HUGE help and if the two of us pitch in, we can get the house pretty clean in no time! So, during the day, if Joshua asks me to read him book after book, I try to put my housework aside and simply enjoy holding my little boy and doing something that makes him so happy. Or, if there's a day when Luke is teething and won't let me put him down for even 2 minutes, I try to just go with it. It won't be long before he no longer wants me to hold him, so I have to take advantage while I can!
*Redo the downstairs bathroom.
The wallpaper is peeling and I desperately want a new mirror in there. A new paint job, mirror and a few wall hangings should spruce that bathroom up a lot! I'm a little scared about starting this project, though, because of my recent experience with wallpaper removal. Mom, you ready for this one?! ;-)
*Create a makeshift play room for the boys in the basement.
Once Luke is walking and can do stairs on his own, I plan on creating a nice space in the basement where some of the boys' bigger toys and trucks can go. We have a TV with a VHS player and all kinds of VHS tapes they could watch down there, plus a few other fun ideas for their "play room." All you crafty mommas, I might need your help with this one!
Well, there you have it! Everything I hope to accomplish in 2013 (I am sure I will think of lots more!). And now, for your viewing pleasure, a few photos from the last few days...enjoy!
Snuggling on the couch.
Playing peek-a-boo. "Where did Lukey go?"

14 Months
Happy 14 months, Luke Brennan!
You have learned lots of new things this month! You are feeding yourself 100% of the time now, which is great! It frees Momma up to actually get to drink her coffee while it's still hot, haha! Some days you even eat more than Joshua! You will eat nearly anything I put in front of you, and have become a huge fan of grapes this month. You are pulling up to stand and have attempted a step or two! I think this is the month for walking, little man! Not going to rush you, though...I know how crazy life will be when you take off! Your big bro went straight from crawling to running, and he hasn't slowed down since! I don't mind if you want to stay a baby for a little while longer. ;-) You are looking so grown up to me lately...much less a baby, and more of a little boy.
I can't get you to sit still on the scale long enough to get an accurate weight, but I am guessing around 28 lbs. You wear a mix of 18 mos. & 24 mos. clothing. Size 4 shoes. Size 4 diapers.
Lukey, you are such a dear little boy. You always have a smile for us. You adore your big brother and love to chase him all over the house. You also love to cuddle and be held. I can't wait to see what the coming months will bring!
Love you, sweet one.

Spaghetti Night
We had spaghetti a couple nights ago (pretty much a staple in this house!), and the boys LOVED it! Here are some fun pictures of the mess! :-)
He started out using a fork, but quickly abandoned that for the shovel-it-in-with-your-fingers method.
Messy, yes. But seriously...so CUTE!
What mess, Momma?!
Joshua asked for seconds and thirds!
YUMMY!

Joshua's 3-Year Stats
I would have posted these sooner, but this little stinker has an extreme fear of doctor and dentist offices! When we went for his 3-year check-up, he went bananas, screaming and crying hysterically, clinging to me all the while. Those of you who have seen him in the worst of tantrums have never seen him like this! He would NOT let the doctor touch him, and they weren't able to get his weight or height. It's a good thing no shots were required, because it would have taken both Mike and myself to hold him down. Let's just say I am hoping this is something he grows out of SOON! Haha.
Anyway, with a little trickery, Momma and Daddy were able to get his weight and height at home. At 3 years old, he weighs approximately 37 lbs. and is 39 inches tall! That's 5 lbs. and 3 in. in a year! If he keeps growing at this rate, he'll be as tall as me in a couple years! LOL. Despite the fact that he wouldn't let the doctor get too close, Dr. C. said we have us a healthy little man! Thank you, Lord, for two sweet, healthy boys!
Have a blessed Tuesday!

Trip to Michigan
Happy New Year! We traveled to MI over the holiday for a NYE family wedding.
Joshua had a ball ringing in the New Year!
Luke took a little snooze on Daddy's shoulder during the reception.
Despite the fact that it was late, Joshua was a maniac on the dance floor!
He found a cowboy hat and wore it around most of the night.
Don't you love his Nike sweat pants with his nice shirt? He wet himself after the wedding ceremony (the first time in MONTHS!), so we had to change his pants. So stylish, LOL.
Ringing in the New Year with the hubs.
Of course, a couple days in a hotel calls for some serious pool time!
We celebrated Joshua's 3rd birthday, as well as Grandpa's retirement! WOOHOO!
This sweet boy couldn't get enough of the pool.
A wedding, New Year's Eve, celebrating Christmas, JJ's birthday and Grandpa's retirement -- they were 4 very busy days, but we had tons of fun! Today we are resting up and enjoying a lazy day at home. Have a wonderful weekend friends!
Love,
M, K, JJ & LB
