Zonked

Someone is zonked out after a busy weekend!  He was listening to music in the kitchen, and the next thing I knew, he was out!

 Precious boy.  :-)

Copy Cat

This little mister has been getting lots of practice sitting up at his toy tool bench lately.

We prop the tool bench up against the door frame so he can't knock it over, set the Boppy pillow behind him and let him play away!

Most of the time he does quite well.  Sometimes he gets way too excited and kicks the tool bench, knocking himself over.  But he is quickly getting the hang of it!

It's so much fun learning how to be a big boy!

Look what Momma caught big brother doing while the lil' man was down for a nap the other day...

He pulled the tool bench over to the door frame, set the Boppy pillow on the floor and sat down to get to work, happy as a clam!

Goofball!

Compare this smirk to Luke's smirk in the second photo...are they brothers or WHAT?!?!  Hehe.

As long as he doesn't decide he needs a pacifier or a bottle, I'm okay with him being a copy cat!  Happy Wednesday, all!

Recent Pinterest Finds

For those of you who have not yet jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, I am telling you, you MUST try it!  It has made my weekly meal planning a breeze.  I used to struggle with the feeling that we eat the same. old. things. all the time, but now, I just go to Pinterest.com, pin any recipes that sound good, and when it comes time to make out my grocery list, I ask Mike which of my pinned recipes he would like to try that week.  Super easy, and it has taken the hum drum out of planning, cooking and eating!  It has also made it a little difficult to lose weight, as there are so many AH-MAZING desserts to try, haha!  But, I only have 8 lbs. to go - woohoo!  Anyway, here are some of the recent recipes we have tried and LOVED:

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies in the Universe

And yes, they honestly WERE the best chocolate chip cookies ever.  Thick, soft, FULL of chocolate!  I under baked mine quite a bit, though.  11 - 12 minutes opposed to the 15 the recipe calls for.

Cookies & Cream Cheesecake Cupcakes

 http://www.handletheheat.com/2010/02/cookies-cream-cheesecake-cupcakes.html

Made these for last night's dessert...delish!  The recipe makes a lot, though...I would probably cut it in half if I were to make these again.

Cranberry Crockpot Chicken

SUPER easy and yummy!

Mini Chicken Pot Pies

http://www.bettycrocker.com/Tips/TipsLibrary/Cooking-Tips/Create-Your-Own-Signature-Mini-Pie

Mike LOVES chicken pot pie, so I thought this would be a fun one to try!  We had them for dinner last night.  So quick & easy & yummy!  You could make so many different kinds...bacon cheeseburger, pizza pies, whatever...just add the filling you want!  These are also freezer friendly, which is a huge plus for me!  Keep them on hand and just toss into the microwave for a fast dinner!  Joshua dubbed them, "DEE-LICIOUS!"

White Chocolate Blueberry Brownies

I made these the other night to go along with "breakfast for dinner."  They were the perfect addition!  A different twist on a blueberry muffin.  I baked mine a little longer than the recipe recommends, and I sprinkled the top with sugar.  Divine!

Baked Oatmeal with Strawberries, Bananas & Chocolate

I have made this one a couple times now.  It was good with the bananas, but I am a little iffy about reheating a banana, so I dumped the leftovers.  The second time, I replaced the bananas with blueberries.  It needed to set a little longer than the original version, but I much prefer it with the blueberries.  This has become a family favorite!

Anyway, there are some of my reviews on some awesome recipe finds!  I have LOTS more pinned that I can't wait to try!

Oh, and check out this super cute idea I also found on Pinterest for the boys' ocean-themed bathroom:

Aren't those adorable?  I definitely want to try this, if I can ever get around to it, haha!

Have a wonderful Tuesday, friends!

Blissful Sunday

Today has been one of those blissful, peaceful Sundays.

Checking himself out in the mirror.  Yup.  Still cute!

Just hanging out at home...love those smiles!

Don't let that smile fool you...while, yes, he is usually pretty well-behaved, the terrible two's have hit our house with a vengeance recently!

Still love him to pieces, though!  :-)

Both boys napped most of the afternoon, and Momma even managed to sneak a brief nap in...truly glorious!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Sitting Up!

Look who is sitting up like such a big boy!

No time for posing, Momma...I'm busy playing!

Seriously...is there anything cuter than a baby in denim overalls?!

So proud of himself! Don't be fooled...the Boppy pillow is not supporting him. It's there because he often gets so excited that he flings himself backwards, and Momma doesn't want him to hit his head on the floor!

Case in point!

Phew! Learning all these new skills is exhausting! Happy Friday, friends!

One Cool Kiddo

Joshua Jace, you are one cool kiddo. Your daddy and I are always talking about how much fun you are! Here are some things we love about your 27-month self:

1) We love your SMILE. You get so excited over the simplest things. Your joy is contagious! Food is something you get especially excited over. Recently, when I tell you it is time to eat, you jump up and down, clap your hands and say, "I'm SO excited!" If Momma or Daddy is eating something, no matter where you are in the house, you will come running. Your way of asking for a bite is to stand right next to us, give us those big, puppy-dog eyes and say, "Here, try this!" LOL. Throughout a meal, you happily kick your feet under the table and bob your head from side to side, dancing with joy while you eat. You often tell me dinner is "delicious!" One of the ways you share your happiness is through singing (wonder where you get that from?!). You are ALWAYS singing, and it makes my momma heart so happy! You also beg us to take baths, and get so excited when we tell you it's bath time...you LOVE water and playing in the bath tub, and would play in there all day if Momma would let you. You ask me nearly every day if we can get the pool out...soon, I promise! :-)

2) We love your ENERGY. You never. slow. down! I would love to hook you up to a pedometer to know how many miles you put in each day, because I think it's a LOT! You run, run, run wherever you go! It is nearly impossible to get you to sit still for anything, including these photos; I wish I had half your energy! You are loving this nice weather, because being able to run around outside is one of your favorite activities!

3) We love your OBSESSIONS. You are truly obsessed with Disney's CARS. Anything to do with Lightning McQueen, Mater, or Finn McMissile puts you over the moon! I am constantly tripping over little cars and trucks, but I wouldn't have it any other way! You also love your VeggieTales Silly Songs DVD, and can sing along with all 10 songs! Some of your other favorites include Thomas the Train, your puppy, Toy Story, pretty much any kind of food, and sports!

4) We love your ZEST FOR LEARNING. You crave knowledge. Every day you learn new things, and your capacity to absorb new information just blows me away! You know your phone number, the names of everyone in our family, where you live, your alphabet, numbers, and so much more! You live for reading, and have memorized nearly every book we own! Some of your current favorites are Llama, Llama, Mad at Mama, Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type and Monster Faces. I adore the way you pronounce certain words, such as rhinoceros - "rhino-noceros" - and exersaucer - you say "exerciser." In the last month or so, you have started talking in complete sentences, which makes you seem so grown up! Some of my favorite Joshua phrases are:

"I understand."
"To infinity, and BEYOND!"
"I come in peace." - Daddy and I cannot figure out where this one came from, but it's hilarious!
"I'm so excited!"
"Congratulations!"
"Don't let the bed bugs bite!"
"Whoopsy daisies."

Yesterday, you told me you wanted to sit on the potty! You sat there a while and you went! I was SO PROUD of you for doing this all on your own, and you were thrilled to get M&M's as your treat!

You know two Scriptures by heart, John 3:16 & Philippians 4:13. At night, before we tuck you in, you say your prayers all by yourself. You thank God for Daddy, Momma, Lukey, Grandpas and Grandmas, aunt and uncles, family, friends, and sometimes Lightning McQueen, haha!

5) We love your HEART. Even though you are not always the cuddliest child, you have a tender heart. You prefer to play wherever Momma is working. The other day, Momma was having kind of a tough day, and you said, "Momma, I'm so proud of you!" And I melted into a giant puddle on the floor. You are growing into such a wonderful big brother. You get worried about Luke when he cries, and you are always running to me to tell me what he is doing. "Lukey spit up. Lukey's crying. Lukey's playing." etc. If he is crying, you will run up to him and say, "It's ok, Lukey. I'm right here." You have recently discovered that you can make Luke laugh, and you like to try out your new-found talent! You like to help out, so I often let you help me put the laundry into the dryer, fold towels, and put the groceries away. When you are misbehaving, you often put yourself in time out before Momma even says anything. You are quick to say, "I'm sorry," when you do something you know you shouldn't. And of course, your "I Love You's" and hugs and kisses are the best!

Joshua Jace, there are so many more things we adore about your sweet self. You amaze us every day, and we feel so honored that God has chosen us to be your parents. You are such a blessing to our family, and we hope you always know how proud we are of the little boy you are becoming.

Love,
Momma & Daddy

Bath Time Baby

I know one day he will probably be annoyed that I shared all these photos with you, but they are just too cute not to share!

Luke takes after his big brother in that he LOVES baths! He just splashes and squeals and plays, even when the water starts to get a little chilly! I think he will love his baby pool this summer!

Splish splash!

Notice big brother in the background...he was "helping" me give Lukey a bath.

That is one LONG baby!

LOVE those roly poly thighs!

And those big, gummy grins!

Fresh & clean!

We have all been fighting a bit of a bug around here the past few days, so this momma is on a mission to rid this house of germs today! We made it all winter without getting sick, I am determined to keep it that way! Happy Monday, all!

Love,
Mike, Krys, Joshua & Luke

FIVE months!

Today, our little Lukey is FIVE MONTHS OLD! How can it be that my baby is 5 months already?! That means next month he will be SIX MONTHS...that's half a year! I don't even want to think about that yet! I swear, when you are pregnant and waiting for that baby to arrive, the time just seems to drag on, but once they are born, life shifts into hyper drive!

5 months ago...the day we headed to the hospital to be induced! While I am SO IN LOVE with my boys, I do miss being pregnant sometimes! There is just something so special about it!

November 14, 2011...the day we became a family of 4!

Little man is changing every day! He is so fun and playful! He loves to explore whatever he can get his hands on. He scootches and rolls all across the living room floor playing with his toys (or trying to keep up with his big brother!).

He is SO CLOSE to sitting up on his own...I am sure it won't be long! Luke is now wearing mostly 6-9 months clothes, but we are still squeezing him into some of his 3-6 months winter jammies until the nights warm up here in IL. He wears size 2 diapers, and weighs around 18 lbs. He has been getting a little bit of baby cereal, and is still nursing. He recently found his voice and likes to squeal and squawk and blow raspberries, and just babbles all day long. He sleeps from about 9 p.m. - 6 a.m., eats, then sleeps from about 6:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. He takes a brief morning nap and a nice long afternoon nap, which lately has been coinciding with Joshua's afternoon nap. I'm telling you, 1-2 hours of peace and quiet can be HEAVENLY. LOL. I didn't think it was possible to have a baby as happy as Joshua was, but Luke is just as content and sweet as his big brother was at this age!

Mike & I cannot believe it has already been 5 months. At the same time, it's hard to remember what life was like before this sweet boy joined our family. Luke Brennan, we thank God for you and love you so very much!

We are now settling in to watch the Tigers *hopefully* beat the White Sox! Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
M, K, JJ & LB

So What Wednesday

It's been a while since I wrote a "So What Wednesday" post, so here you have it! Today, I am saying "so what" if...

*So what if I had leftover birthday cake for breakfast. It went great with my coffee!

*So what if I have yet to figure out the perfect schedule for our days at home, and I often don't exercise and shower until both boys are down for their afternoon naps. At least I am exercising (and showering!), right?! We have such a hard time getting moving around here in the mornings...

*So what if I let both boys wear their pajamas all day yesterday because I didn't feel like doing more laundry.

*So what if, even though I don't mind doing laundry and folding it, I despise putting it away, and often let it sit for a couple days all nice and folded in the baskets before I finally tackle it (or beg my husband to do it, haha!).

*So what if I only cook 1-2 times a week, make way too much food, and then we just eat leftovers all week. It works for us, and it definitely saves on the grocery bill!

*So what if it is only 42 degrees out today...I am still wearing flip flops!

*So what if I just brewed my 3rd cup of coffee.

*So what if it was almost April before I finally got around to taking my Christmas wreaths and snowmen decorations down. I was waiting for the snow to show up, LOL!

*So what if I sometimes tell my toddler, "That [annoying] toy/book is sleeping...go play with/read something else, please," because whatever he was playing with was driving me nuts!

*So what if Joshua has already watched his Thomas the Train video twice this morning! It automatically repeats, and he wanted to watch it again, so...

*So what if I am going to be spending my entire afternoon on Shutterfly ordering my 101 *free* prints...and they will probably stick me with like $15 shipping! It says FREE! Haha.

I am sure I have more things to say "So What," to today, but that's all I can think of right now...and, because no post is complete without at least one photo, for your viewing pleasure...

The big boy has discovered that the little one finds him hilarious! Two little hams!

Have a terrific day!
