FIVE months!

Today, our little Lukey is FIVE MONTHS OLD! How can it be that my baby is 5 months already?! That means next month he will be SIX MONTHS...that's half a year! I don't even want to think about that yet! I swear, when you are pregnant and waiting for that baby to arrive, the time just seems to drag on, but once they are born, life shifts into hyper drive!

5 months ago...the day we headed to the hospital to be induced! While I am SO IN LOVE with my boys, I do miss being pregnant sometimes! There is just something so special about it!

November 14, 2011...the day we became a family of 4!

Little man is changing every day! He is so fun and playful! He loves to explore whatever he can get his hands on. He scootches and rolls all across the living room floor playing with his toys (or trying to keep up with his big brother!).

He is SO CLOSE to sitting up on his own...I am sure it won't be long! Luke is now wearing mostly 6-9 months clothes, but we are still squeezing him into some of his 3-6 months winter jammies until the nights warm up here in IL. He wears size 2 diapers, and weighs around 18 lbs. He has been getting a little bit of baby cereal, and is still nursing. He recently found his voice and likes to squeal and squawk and blow raspberries, and just babbles all day long. He sleeps from about 9 p.m. - 6 a.m., eats, then sleeps from about 6:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. He takes a brief morning nap and a nice long afternoon nap, which lately has been coinciding with Joshua's afternoon nap. I'm telling you, 1-2 hours of peace and quiet can be HEAVENLY. LOL. I didn't think it was possible to have a baby as happy as Joshua was, but Luke is just as content and sweet as his big brother was at this age!

Mike & I cannot believe it has already been 5 months. At the same time, it's hard to remember what life was like before this sweet boy joined our family. Luke Brennan, we thank God for you and love you so very much!

We are now settling in to watch the Tigers *hopefully* beat the White Sox! Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
M, K, JJ & LB

So What Wednesday

It's been a while since I wrote a "So What Wednesday" post, so here you have it! Today, I am saying "so what" if...

*So what if I had leftover birthday cake for breakfast. It went great with my coffee!

*So what if I have yet to figure out the perfect schedule for our days at home, and I often don't exercise and shower until both boys are down for their afternoon naps. At least I am exercising (and showering!), right?! We have such a hard time getting moving around here in the mornings...

*So what if I let both boys wear their pajamas all day yesterday because I didn't feel like doing more laundry.

*So what if, even though I don't mind doing laundry and folding it, I despise putting it away, and often let it sit for a couple days all nice and folded in the baskets before I finally tackle it (or beg my husband to do it, haha!).

*So what if I only cook 1-2 times a week, make way too much food, and then we just eat leftovers all week. It works for us, and it definitely saves on the grocery bill!

*So what if it is only 42 degrees out today...I am still wearing flip flops!

*So what if I just brewed my 3rd cup of coffee.

*So what if it was almost April before I finally got around to taking my Christmas wreaths and snowmen decorations down. I was waiting for the snow to show up, LOL!

*So what if I sometimes tell my toddler, "That [annoying] toy/book is sleeping...go play with/read something else, please," because whatever he was playing with was driving me nuts!

*So what if Joshua has already watched his Thomas the Train video twice this morning! It automatically repeats, and he wanted to watch it again, so...

*So what if I am going to be spending my entire afternoon on Shutterfly ordering my 101 *free* prints...and they will probably stick me with like $15 shipping! It says FREE! Haha.

I am sure I have more things to say "So What," to today, but that's all I can think of right now...and, because no post is complete without at least one photo, for your viewing pleasure...

The big boy has discovered that the little one finds him hilarious! Two little hams!

Have a terrific day!

Sleepy Sweeties

In this momma's opinion, there's nothing sweeter than a sleeping child!

Last Wednesday, Luke was busy playing away on his play mat. I turned on the vacuum for a couple minutes, and when I turned around, he was zonked out! Next time I have trouble getting him to sleep, I guess I'll run the vacuum! Might help me keep a cleaner house, too! Hehe.

On Wednesdays, I always put the boys down earlier for their naps because we have to be at Youth Club by 4:30. This past Wednesday, when it was time to leave for Youth Club, both boys were still cashed out, and they did NOT want to wake up!

Wakey wakey, sleepyhead!

I tried waking Joshua, and his response was to try to bury his face further into his pillow. Just 5 more minutes, Momma!

No idea why they were both so wiped out that day, but I do love watching them sleep! :-)

He is RISEN!

We hope you had a blessed Easter! We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating with family and friends! Here are just a few photos...

I made my mom's cut out cookies for the first time. While they are kind of a pain to make, they turned out super delicious! And cute, if I do say so myself! ;-)

Joshua was THRILLED to have Grandma & Grandpa here all weekend! He couldn't get enough reading time in, and I don't think Grandpa & Grandma minded one bit! :-)

New crayons and notebook in his Easter basket from Momma & Daddy. The kid has been all about coloring lately, and he does a pretty good job of only coloring on the paper.

CHEESER!

Joshua, Easter 2010...

...and Luke, Easter 2012! You can definitely tell they are brothers, haha! I always think Luke looks so chunky until I compare him to photos of his big brother...Joshua was 3 lbs. heavier at this age! :-O

This was the best family photo we managed to get...after a 6 a.m. wake up, 7 a.m. sunrise service, consistory breakfast, and 10 a.m. Easter service, the boys were EXHAUSTED (so were Momma and Daddy, LOL). Luke usually sleeps until 6:30, eats, then goes back to sleep until 9 or so, and Joshua usually sleeps until 7-7:30, so it was tough on them to be out and about so early. You can see we were all a little flustered trying to grab a quick photo before the meltdowns ensued...haha!

I can never have enough photos with my two boys...it is nearly impossible to get them both to sit still long enough to snap one!

Little Man is getting so big!

Check out those tired expressions! Winding down with a quick video before nap time.

This little guy & I snuggled in for a brief afternoon nap before we headed out for an Easter dinner with friends.

Joshua got to participate in his first Easter egg hunt later in the evening! He quickly became a pro, crawling under tables and squeezing into tight corners to find the eggs!

He was so sweet and gave many of his eggs away to other friends. He didn't care how many eggs were in his bag, he was just having such a great time!

Our friend, Miss Norma, helped Joshy gather his eggs so Momma could snap some pictures.

While we had a wonderful, busy, fun-filled weekend, we need to take time to remember what this holiday is truly about. God sent his son to DIE on the cross, so that you and I might have EVERLASTING LIFE. No matter how many times I hear this message, the love of our Heavenly Father never fails to blow me away! Thank you, Jesus, for making the ultimate sacrifice!

Love and Blessings,
M, K, JJ & LB

Happy Birthday, Daddy & Grandma!

Mike & his mom shared a birthday Friday, and we were so excited that Mike's parents were able to visit us this past weekend and we could all celebrate as a family! I made this confetti cake that I found on Pinterest...it was really yummy!

The birthday girl & boy!

Joshua LOVES when it's someone's birthday...what kid doesn't like birthday cake?!

He sang the "Happy Birthday" song to Daddy & Grandma multiple times on Friday!

Eating the frosting first...he is definitely my child! Haha.

Needless to say, he got a good scrub down when he finished!

Saturday, we headed out to Biaggi's for more celebrating! He is one cool kid in those shades.

Happy birthday, Daddy & Grandma! We love you both so much!

Busy Boys!

Just a few photos of what we've been up to around here the past couple days...this post is completely random, but I am too tired to worry about it, so enjoy the photos and excuse my nonsensical rambling!

Joshua dressed himself for church Sunday morning. Orange monkey pajama pants and an orange striped polo shirt match, right?!?! Haha. I didn't let him go to church this way, but I was tempted to! :-)

Run, run, running around the yard for hours!

Aaaahhhh...lying in the warm sunshine. HEAVENLY.

Pool time!

He is looking (and acting!) SO GROWN UP to me lately!

Always nom-nom-nomming on those fingers!

Is there anything sweeter than little baby feet?!?!

Firefighter Joshua to the rescue!

Just woke up from a nap in the swing - must have been a pretty good nap!

These boys keep me running, but I wouldn't have it any other way! ♥ Looking forward to more fun as the week goes on!

Fast-Forward

I really don't have much to blog about today, except that I cannot wrap my head around the fact that it is April already! Um, what happened to March?!?! The next month is busy, busy, BUSY at our house! Birthdays, Easter, bridal showers, doctor appointments, dentist appointments, meetings for both Mike and myself, play dates, visits with family and friends, the little man will be 5 months old...all of this means April will be gone in a flash! I swear, someone must have hit fast-forward on the remote of our lives! Haha. I am trying to just enjoy every minute of these boys, because they just keep growing and changing before my eyes (even though I keep telling them to SLOW DOWN - HA)!

This photo makes my momma heart so happy! I just can't get enough of those two sweet smiles. It is supposed to reach 89 degrees here today, so we are considering a lazy afternoon by the kiddie pool! Joshua will be SSSOOO excited! He has been begging me to get the pool out since the temps hit 60 a few weeks ago, lol.

Have a blessed Sunday, friends!

Love,
Mike, Krys, Joshua & Luke
