Sleepy Sweeties

In this momma's opinion, there's nothing sweeter than a sleeping child!

Last Wednesday, Luke was busy playing away on his play mat. I turned on the vacuum for a couple minutes, and when I turned around, he was zonked out! Next time I have trouble getting him to sleep, I guess I'll run the vacuum! Might help me keep a cleaner house, too! Hehe.

On Wednesdays, I always put the boys down earlier for their naps because we have to be at Youth Club by 4:30. This past Wednesday, when it was time to leave for Youth Club, both boys were still cashed out, and they did NOT want to wake up!

Wakey wakey, sleepyhead!

I tried waking Joshua, and his response was to try to bury his face further into his pillow. Just 5 more minutes, Momma!

No idea why they were both so wiped out that day, but I do love watching them sleep! :-)

He is RISEN!

We hope you had a blessed Easter! We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating with family and friends! Here are just a few photos...

I made my mom's cut out cookies for the first time. While they are kind of a pain to make, they turned out super delicious! And cute, if I do say so myself! ;-)

Joshua was THRILLED to have Grandma & Grandpa here all weekend! He couldn't get enough reading time in, and I don't think Grandpa & Grandma minded one bit! :-)

New crayons and notebook in his Easter basket from Momma & Daddy. The kid has been all about coloring lately, and he does a pretty good job of only coloring on the paper.

CHEESER!

Joshua, Easter 2010...

...and Luke, Easter 2012! You can definitely tell they are brothers, haha! I always think Luke looks so chunky until I compare him to photos of his big brother...Joshua was 3 lbs. heavier at this age! :-O

This was the best family photo we managed to get...after a 6 a.m. wake up, 7 a.m. sunrise service, consistory breakfast, and 10 a.m. Easter service, the boys were EXHAUSTED (so were Momma and Daddy, LOL). Luke usually sleeps until 6:30, eats, then goes back to sleep until 9 or so, and Joshua usually sleeps until 7-7:30, so it was tough on them to be out and about so early. You can see we were all a little flustered trying to grab a quick photo before the meltdowns ensued...haha!

I can never have enough photos with my two boys...it is nearly impossible to get them both to sit still long enough to snap one!

Little Man is getting so big!

Check out those tired expressions! Winding down with a quick video before nap time.

This little guy & I snuggled in for a brief afternoon nap before we headed out for an Easter dinner with friends.

Joshua got to participate in his first Easter egg hunt later in the evening! He quickly became a pro, crawling under tables and squeezing into tight corners to find the eggs!

He was so sweet and gave many of his eggs away to other friends. He didn't care how many eggs were in his bag, he was just having such a great time!

Our friend, Miss Norma, helped Joshy gather his eggs so Momma could snap some pictures.

While we had a wonderful, busy, fun-filled weekend, we need to take time to remember what this holiday is truly about. God sent his son to DIE on the cross, so that you and I might have EVERLASTING LIFE. No matter how many times I hear this message, the love of our Heavenly Father never fails to blow me away! Thank you, Jesus, for making the ultimate sacrifice!

Love and Blessings,
M, K, JJ & LB

Happy Birthday, Daddy & Grandma!

Mike & his mom shared a birthday Friday, and we were so excited that Mike's parents were able to visit us this past weekend and we could all celebrate as a family! I made this confetti cake that I found on Pinterest...it was really yummy!

The birthday girl & boy!

Joshua LOVES when it's someone's birthday...what kid doesn't like birthday cake?!

He sang the "Happy Birthday" song to Daddy & Grandma multiple times on Friday!

Eating the frosting first...he is definitely my child! Haha.

Needless to say, he got a good scrub down when he finished!

Saturday, we headed out to Biaggi's for more celebrating! He is one cool kid in those shades.

Happy birthday, Daddy & Grandma! We love you both so much!

Busy Boys!

Just a few photos of what we've been up to around here the past couple days...this post is completely random, but I am too tired to worry about it, so enjoy the photos and excuse my nonsensical rambling!

Joshua dressed himself for church Sunday morning. Orange monkey pajama pants and an orange striped polo shirt match, right?!?! Haha. I didn't let him go to church this way, but I was tempted to! :-)

Run, run, running around the yard for hours!

Aaaahhhh...lying in the warm sunshine. HEAVENLY.

Pool time!

He is looking (and acting!) SO GROWN UP to me lately!

Always nom-nom-nomming on those fingers!

Is there anything sweeter than little baby feet?!?!

Firefighter Joshua to the rescue!

Just woke up from a nap in the swing - must have been a pretty good nap!

These boys keep me running, but I wouldn't have it any other way! ♥ Looking forward to more fun as the week goes on!

Fast-Forward

I really don't have much to blog about today, except that I cannot wrap my head around the fact that it is April already! Um, what happened to March?!?! The next month is busy, busy, BUSY at our house! Birthdays, Easter, bridal showers, doctor appointments, dentist appointments, meetings for both Mike and myself, play dates, visits with family and friends, the little man will be 5 months old...all of this means April will be gone in a flash! I swear, someone must have hit fast-forward on the remote of our lives! Haha. I am trying to just enjoy every minute of these boys, because they just keep growing and changing before my eyes (even though I keep telling them to SLOW DOWN - HA)!

This photo makes my momma heart so happy! I just can't get enough of those two sweet smiles. It is supposed to reach 89 degrees here today, so we are considering a lazy afternoon by the kiddie pool! Joshua will be SSSOOO excited! He has been begging me to get the pool out since the temps hit 60 a few weeks ago, lol.

Have a blessed Sunday, friends!

Love,
Mike, Krys, Joshua & Luke

Sweet Boys & a GREAT Day!

Ever have one of those days when everything just goes wrong? We all have them, and I think it is our sinful nature that causes us to focus on those "bad" days. But today, in this momma's book, was a GREAT day...one of those rare days where everything just seems to go RIGHT. And I am savoring it!

It started with Joshua and I snuggling and watching TV in bed this morning while Luke slept. It might seem silly, but those moments are RARE. It is rare for JJ and Momma to have much "us" time, and the kid is not a snuggler, so that was also rare. I soaked up the entire 10 minutes he was content to just lay there in my arms, just me and my first baby. Perfect start to my day!

Then we played outside for 2 1/2 hours! Beautiful, sunshiney, 70-degree weather. The fresh air did us all good, and put an extra spring in Momma's step!

Daddy came home early, which meant Momma got to go for a run. Yes, I have been "running," if you can call it that...more like jogging ever-so-slowly. I am still doing Jillian's 30-Day Shred, but am alternating that with 2-mile runs. And if it doesn't work out for me to run (ie. rainy, too cold, or the hubby can't watch the boys), I do the Shred instead. But today, the run felt GOOD.

We spent the evening at Youth Club, and now we are topping off our wonderful day by watching Cars 2. Maybe it's my attitude (I am working on being a more positive person), but I just can't get over how wonderful today was! Thank you, Jesus, for a truly beautiful day with my boys!

And now, for your viewing pleasure, some sweet photos of my babes...

Reading books with my big brother is the BEST, Momma!

Joshua is becoming such a loving and protective big brother!

Snuggles.

For the life of me, I cannot get a single photo where they are both looking at the camera! But, they are still pretty cute, if I do say so myself! :-)

I love Joshua's face in this one...he looks like such a proud big brother!

Kind of caught them both! Haha.

We hope you had a wonderful day!

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." ~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18~

Weekend Recap

We have had a BUSY but very fun weekend in the Holleman household!

Friday we met my mom in Davenport for a fun day of shopping!

Look who suddenly became a pro at rolling in both directions!!!!! Now he is ALL over the place! If we put a toy in the middle of the room, he will do a combination of scooting and rolling until he reaches it!

Saturday morning sillies!

s

Saturday morning breakfast - a jelly doughnut - YUM!

Joshua discovered a love for sidewalk chalk! Our driveway is now beautifully decorated! :-)

He was so funny - he just kept drawing lines. I would say, "What are you drawing?" "An N," he'd say, and draw a line. "What are you drawing now?" "McQueen." And another line. Haha.

And look who is joining us at meal times like such a big boy in the high chair! The pediatrician told us we should start giving him a little baby cereal to teach him to use a spoon...so far, it's tough to tell what he thinks about the cereal...but he loves taking part in our dinner conversation!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend...time for this family to head to bed!

Love and blessings,
Mike, Krys, Joshua & Luke
