Josh-isms

At 19 months, Joshua has been saying so many cute things lately! I know I'll forget them if I don't write them down, so I thought I'd share them with you.

1. We have been working on manners and have taught him to say, "Bless you," when someone sneezes or coughs. Not only does he "bless" others, but whenever he sneezes or coughs, he tells himself, "Besshoo!" Makes me laugh every time!

2. "Cool, dude!" Whenever he sees something he thinks is neat, he says, "Coo doo!" I have NO idea where he picked this up!

3. Counting. He counts, "One, two, three, four, five, eight, ten." We are still working on this!

4. ABC's. He can name a word that goes with each corresponding letter. He thinks this is a great game and loves to go through the whole alphabet. Some of my favorites are, "pus", which is his word for "octopus," and "brewwa," short for "umbrella."

5. After a week spent in MI and lots of time on the road, Daddy and I are a little weary of the word, "car." The kid LOVES cars. He points to and says, "car," every time he sees a car. That adds up to...a couple thousand by the end of a 5.5 hour trip? Haha.

6. Colors. He knows the color words, but can't associate them yet with the correct colors. So, when we ask him, "What color is that?" He will guess, "red, purple, blue, yellow, green, white..." until he gets it right. LOL.

7. He calls his boy parts his "beep beep." Hehe. :-)

8. Joshua does not like giving hugs or kisses, but for some reason, he loves to give "squeezes." So, when I ask, "Can I have a squeeze?" he will run up to me, wrap his arms around me and squeeze as tightly as he can while saying, "GEEZ!"

9. Lately when he sees something new and exciting he says, "Oooooooooooooooooooh!" with those wide, doe eyes.

10. He has always been such a happy boy, and recently he's been running around the house saying, "Happeeee, happeeee!" Too cute!

11. This kid is a total MOOCH. He thinks anyone else's food is meant for him. If one of us has a snack, he will run up to us and say, "Mmmmmmmm, mmmmmmmm...." until we share. And, sometimes, he just snatches it away! Little turd!

12. We have been teaching him the names of his aunts and uncles, and he can say, "Keisha, Richard, Adam & Sara" very well, but poor Uncle Corey also gets called, "Keisha." Silly boy.

13. Every time the phone rings, he says, "Papa? Papa?" because he thinks it's Grandpa calling.

14. Yesterday we went out for dinner with Mike's parents and while we were placing our orders, JJ turned to the waiter and said, "Fries!" Haha. Funny how he knew that's what we usually order for him at restaurants!

15. When he eats something he really likes, he'll say, "mmmmm, tasty!" or "mmmmm, 'licious! (Delicious!)" He gets very excited about his food!

I know there are so many more, but that's all I can think of for now...I have lots of great photos to post from our week in Michigan, but I am too sleepy tonight, so it will have to wait for another day!

Enjoy your evening!

98 Days

Only 98 more days until my baby brother is due! Can't wait to meet him!

Today is going to be a beautiful, fairly cool day, and we plan to make good use of it! It's been a long time since we've had one of those comfortable, not-too-humid, sunny summer days!

And tomorrow we head to Michigan for a week! We are so excited to see everyone...it has been almost 4 months since we last visited.

Enjoy this lovely day!
Love,
M, K & JJ

Play Date

Today, one of my good friends brought her boys, B & L over to play.

My friends are coming! YAY!

Joshua and B are exactly 1 year apart, and they have so much fun together.

They spent the morning chasing each other around, playing cars and then splashing in the pool.

B & L are 22 months apart, which is the same age difference my boys will have once this little one arrives. It will be fun to get all four boys together to play!

I love this one of their little butts as they waved to the Schwann's man.

And one of baby L playing on the floor...isn't he just the sweetest?

Play dates are great for the kids, but they are also wonderful for the mommas. It is so nice to be able to sit and talk with another mom while the kids play together. Hope to have another play date soon!

Church Softball 2011

Today was the last day of our church softball league. The tournament started at 8 a.m.!

Since we had to be there so early, we picked up breakfast at Hy-Vee in-between games - mmmmmmmm, donuts!

Joshy and Daddy hanging out after the first game.

This kid had a blast - running around, playing in the dirt, throwing the softballs...he couldn't get enough!

Cheering for our team - gggggooooo GREEN!

He was one dirty little boy by the end. Those shoes are supposed to be black, not gray, haha. But we all had a wonderful time. Can't wait until next year when Momma can play, too!

Movie Date & Updates

Last week Mike & I had the chance to go on a date to the movies. It was so nice to be able to leave Joshua in the very capable hands of one of his favorite sitters and spend the afternoon together. We are trying to be very intentional about having "us" time at least once a month...this has proven more difficult this summer than we thought it would, as our summer has been jam-packed with activities!

We are still in desperate need of some rain here in IL, but thankfully the temps and humidity have let up a little the past couple days...today's high is only 84, with only 10% humidity! Hallelujah! JJ and I were actually able to go for a 4-mile walk last night, and hope to be able to do the same tonight while Daddy mows the lawn.

At 25 weeks, I am still feeling great, with very few aches & pains. Baby Boy has been extremely active lately, which is always fun. I have been trying to catch naps every once in a while in the afternoon, since I can tell I don't have quite as much energy as I usually do. Last week I laid down with Joshua to put him down for his nap, and woke up two hours later - guess we both needed a nap, ha!

I know I keep saying this, but Little J is just learning and changing so much lately! Every day I think he looks more grown up! He has no trouble communicating what he needs, and learns new words at a rapid pace! The other day Mike and I were talking, and he said the number, "one,"and Joshua said, "two, three, four, five..." omg_smile.gif So now we are working on numbers as well as letters! He is also learning his colors and animals, and has gone potty on the big boy potty twice! We can barely keep up with the kid! But we are loving each new phase!

Enjoy this beautiful day!
Love and blessings,
M, K & JJ

Guess What?!?!

This post is a total Momma brag, but guess what this little boy just did...

He went on the potty! YAY! We are still a LONG way from being potty trained, but it's a start! Can't believe he is growing up so fast!
