Some Things Never Change...

Despite the fact that our little guy is growing up right before my eyes, some of his old habits remain...

Soaking It Up

Who says September has to mean the end of summer? It is a balmy 81 degrees here in Fairview today, and we are soaking it up while we still can! After all, soon enough it will be too cold, and we will be wishing we were able to spend time outdoors!

A short trip to the playground and then we spent the morning running around the yard...perfect start to a beautiful day!

Oh, and anyone else think this child is looking a little TOO grown up lately?!?! Any suggestions on how to get him to slow down? Haha. Despite the fact that I miss his "baby self", his "big boy self" just gets sweeter and more fun by the day!

Have a happy Monday! ~K

Freezer Meal Frenzy

Today, my friend Caty and her little girl Sawyer came over to make some freezer meals. Since Caty and I are both expecting, we thought it would be nice to have some meals ready for when these babies arrive!

We made 10 meals, including these delicious peanut butter chocolate chip muffins, dijon marinated chicken breasts...

...chicken rice wraps, queso fundido, tater tot casserole...

...chicken pot pie, meatballs, barbecue chicken pizza...

...lasagna and stromboli! WHEW! In the process, we learned which meals take TOO LONG, which ones are super EASY, and that next time maybe we should hire a babysitter, haha!

Joshy & Sawyer (or "Soy-ser", as he calls her) had so much fun playing together while the mommas worked!

It is so much fun having friends over, Momma!

Who ya talkin' to?

Is she the sweetest or what?!?!

Joshua did anything he could all day long to get Sawyer to laugh...their giggles were so contagious!

They chased each other all day, running around and around the kitchen!

After an extremely busy day, we now have a freezer full of ready-made food! I am so thankful to have a wonderful friend with whom to do these things! These two mommas are ready to put our feet up after 10 hours of cooking, labeling, freezing, not to mention chasing & feeding children!

Now we are relaxing and snuggling before bedtime...I think we will all sleep well tonight!

Baby Boy's Nursery

One of my projects this week was to finish putting together Baby Boy's nursery, and here are some photos of the finished product!

You will probably recognize most of the decorations from Joshua's nursery, but I have added a few new pieces!

I often find Joshua in Baby Brother's room, playing with his old, familiar toys. He may have a difficult time parting with some of these! It will be a good lesson in sharing!

What do you mean I have to SHARE, Momma?!

His name will hang above the crib, but we are going to keep you in suspense until he arrives! :-)

I made this collage on Shutterfly with the maternity photos we had taken a few weeks ago, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Anyway, that's the nursery in a nutshell. It feels good to have it ready, baby's clothes washed and the closet organized. Now to move on to other projects in the next two months, before I am completely out of energy!

Wordless Wednesday: On a Walk

Spontaneous Saturday Night

Besides a little cleaning, we didn't really have any big plans for today. We wanted to do something, but couldn't decide what... I am not a very spontaneous person, but we finally decided it might be fun to try to take Joshua to his very first movie! Of course, it is always hard to predict how your 20-mo-old child will react to new situations, so I was a bit nervous...

We went to see Cars 2. As you can see, little man had no trouble getting comfortable and digging into his popcorn!

He was completely enthralled!

Besides getting a little squirmy, he did so well! He sat in his chair for about half of the movie, then sat on Momma's lap for the rest. He thought a movie about his favorite objects - CARS - was pretty neat! Can't wait to take him to the movies again sometime!

And I just have to mention, after about 6 weeks, we are FINALLY get some rain here in Fairview! Glory Hallelujah! And how about those Hawkeyes, Wolverines and Tigers today? We're pretty stoked that all our favorite teams did well!

Hope you had a terrific Saturday!
